[Journal of the House of Lords], [1621 Feb 6 - 1622 Feb 8].

Manuscript, in a single secretary hand, of a chronological journal of proceedings in the House of Lords, including bills, resolutions, committee appointments, and orders of the house. The volume includes the trial and judgment against Giles Mompesson for extortion; acts concerning tobacco and against the false dyeing of silks; and the trial and conviction of Edward Lloyd for speaking libelous words of the king's daughter, Elizabeth, Queen of Bohemia, and her husband, Frederick I, and creating a comic stage play mocking their exile from Bohemia. The manuscript also records the debate in the House of Lords over whether Lloyd's punishment of being whipped and having his ears nailed to the pillory was fitting for a gentleman.
